Thank you for taking the time to read my professional bio. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I have extensive experience in treating trauma and ADHD. My expertise lies in utilizing various modalities, such as EMDR, solution-focused, and Humanistic approaches, to provide comprehensive and effective care for my clients. My certifications in trauma and ADHD treatment are a testament to my commitment to staying updated in the latest developments in therapeutic techniques.
In addition to my specialization in trauma and ADHD, I also offer therapy and counseling for Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs), anxiety, anger, depression, NDE'S and marital/premarital counseling. I believe that everyone's journey is unique and requires an individualized approach, which is why I utilize a diverse range of therapeutic tools to cater to the specific needs of each of my clients.
The foundation of my approach is rooted in the belief that life experiences shape our growth and development. With this in mind, I work closely with my clients to bring about positive changes and healing through their own personal experiences. My ultimate goal is to facilitate growth and understanding, and to guide my clients towards a more fulfilling and balanced life.
Thank you once again for taking an interest in my professional background. I am honored to have the opportunity to guide my clients towards a better quality of life through therapy. Types of Treatment
My therapeutic approach is rooted in providing clients with a supportive and unbiased environment. My ultimate goal is to accompany clients on an empathetic journey towards gaining a deeper understanding of themselves and promoting personal growth. My diverse therapeutic style combines humanistic, person-centered therapy, trauma-focused therapy, and interpersonal therapy, all of which enable me to effectively cater to the unique needs of each individual. With a focus on these approaches, I am dedicated to helping my clients achieve long-term healing and positive change. Through my professional proficiency and compassionate approach, I strive to facilitate a safe and nonjudgmental space for clients to explore their emotions and experiences.
Family therapy is a professional form of treatment aimed at addressing mental health and functioning issues that specifically affect families. This type of therapy strives to strengthen relationships and foster more effective communication within the family unit. By focusing on how family members interact and relate to one another, family therapy can bring about positive changes in close relationships. Through this approach, individual family members can receive the necessary support to overcome their struggles and find healthier ways to manage conflicts within the family system.
Couples-Marital/Premarital
Marriage is a lifelong commitment that requires effort and dedication to maintain a healthy and strong bond. Just like any other relationship, it has its highs and lows and it's important to acknowledge the need for outside support when faced with challenges.
During premarital counseling, you and your significant other will learn valuable skills to effectively communicate, resolve conflicts, identify values, and align expectations about major life decisions. These skills are essential for laying the groundwork for a successful and fulfilling marriage.

Treatment Approach
As a professional in the field of mental health, I understand that counseling is not a one size fits all approach. I strongly believe in the use of evidence based treatment, which has been validated by research and determined to be effective. At our practice, we prioritize the combination of evidence based treatment with an intuitive approach. This allows us to provide a tailored and comprehensive treatment plan for individuals dealing with PTSD, anxiety, depression, anger management, and low self esteem. By utilizing evidence based treatment and incorporating an intuitive approach, we are able to address the unique needs and concerns of each individual, promoting their overall well-being and progress towards a healthier state of mind.
By providing a conducive space for individuals to open up and share their struggles, the healing process becomes more efficient and effective. The absence of judgment and the presence of comfort allow individuals to fully embrace their vulnerability, enabling them to address their symptoms and reach a place of inner peace. In this way, a safe and nonjudgmental environment proves to be the key aspect of successful symptom management and overall healing. It is my professional recommendation that this type of environment should be prioritized and maintained for optimal results in the field of health and wellness. It is through life experiences that we can gain wisdom. The key is healthily managing negative experiences while maintaining peace and faith throughout difficult situations. My approach begins at the root cause of the symptom- working backward, which leads to healing.

EMDR
Anger
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a renowned and highly effective therapy modality utilized in counseling to address Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This innovative approach helps to process traumatic events by reorganizing associated emotional and sensory information within the brain's neurological structure. EMDR offers a unique and evidence-based treatment that allows individuals to effectively cope with traumatic experiences and regain emotional well-being. This approach offers hope and healing to those struggling with PTSD, and has become a widely recognized and respected method within the counseling community.
BFRBs
It is a common human experience to feel anger. However, unchecked anger can have a detrimental effect on various aspects of our lives, including our relationships, health, and employment. It can also greatly impact our overall quality of life. Effective anger management requires introspection and the development of new coping mechanisms to handle expectations and stressors. As a professional in the field, I have guided many individuals through counseling to overcome their anger, leading to a significant improvement in their quality of life and relationships. With tailored strategies and techniques, I assist individuals in addressing the root causes of their anger, regulating their emotions, and fostering healthier relationships. Let me help you in your journey of managing anger for a more fulfilling life.
Body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs) involve damaging repetitive self-grooming behaviors such as Onychophagia (nail biting), Trichotillomania (hair pulling), Excoriation (skin picking), or cheek biting. BFRBs, multidimensional problems that require a multidimensional approach. Learning to understand the function of a BFRB, emotional and physical triggers to the behavior, and having a toolbox of strategies for working through triggers and urges are crucial components of success.
ADHD/ADD
If finding yourself constantly running behind schedule, struggling to meet deadlines and appointments, or unable to complete tasks on your to-do list has become a daily occurrence, you may be experiencing challenges with procrastination, time management, and maintaining focus. These struggles can be indicators of ADHD, a disorder that can greatly impact one's ability to function in their daily life. Whether you have been considering the possibility of having ADHD or have already received a diagnosis, it is important to find the right therapist who understands your unique needs and can provide the support and guidance you need to manage your symptoms. With proper treatment and support, individuals with ADHD can learn to develop effective coping strategies and thrive in their personal and professional lives.
NDE'S
Near-death experiences (NDEs) are deeply impactful events that can have a profound effect on individuals, leaving them with a sense of curiosity and wonder. These extraordinary experiences often lead to questions and confusion, as individuals attempt to understand what has happened to them. However, exploring the different aspects of NDEs can provide significant insight and knowledge that can help individuals make sense of their experience. With the right support, individuals can tap into their inner strength, personalize their self-awareness, and create effective coping strategies for managing NDEs. This guidance is available to those seeking to make sense of their NDE and move forward in a positive and empowering way. Through exploration and support, NDEs can be transformed into experiences of personal growth and development, ultimately leading to a profound understanding of the human experience.
Trauma Work
In the world of mental health, trauma manifests in various forms. Some of these forms include obvious and horrific experiences that have an undeniable devastating impact. Other forms can be more subtle, involving small moments that may not be as clear-cut but still have a lasting impact on one's physical and emotional well-being. These moments may be hidden, lurking within our bodies and emotions, waiting to resurface in unexpected ways.
We must recognize that trauma is not limited to one defining event. It is crucial to acknowledge and address these hidden traumas, even if they may not seem as severe as other forms of trauma. Because whether obvious or hidden, trauma can greatly impact our mental well-being and hinder our daily lives.
Healthy Horizons Counseling offers personalized therapy and counseling services to promote mental well-being.
